Kidney values improving – without medicine!

2017, Oct, 12 | MANUEL - SA & more | 0 comments

The numbers say it all!

So we will now regularly make test for the rest of his life in order to monitor the status of his kidneys:

  • Urine samples
  • Blood tests

The good thing is that the urine samples we will collect ourselves, and the blood tests will be made by his regular vet. and  – that i loves and trusts.

Guess what? Manuel’s kidney values improved!

After been testing many times, the values actually improved. The vets. where very surprised by this development, as they have told me that the focus had been more on slowing down the pace of the decay. They became even more interested when I revealed that:

  1. Manuel now has been off all kinds of medication for months!
  2. Manuel now has been off commercial dog food (renal support) for months and is served home cooked food.  A diet well balanced and adapted to his kidney condition.

But it was not suprising to me. I just wish I had taken that decision much earlier…

Not any kind of “normal” kidney failure

NO, I do not claim that doing what I did is to be recommended for all kinds of kidney failure. What I DO claim is that this worked as the reason for the failure was Atopica.

As I wrote in an earlier blog post – bacteria tests from his urine were made but came out all negative. In other words,  the kidney failure was not cause by e.g. a bacterial urinary tract infection (UTI) that spread.

Once we removed Atopica the kidneys did not only stop thei decay – they actually got better.

Manuel is back on track

Our beloved Manuel is now his “old” self, happy, polite and my mental coach.

This content is written post mortem but the date is set as correct in to relation when it really happened. I think it is very important to share this experience and knowledge but I have not had the energy to do so, until now (2021).
