So far so good – life must go on
I know, I know, it can burst out in an “attack” any day, but so far so good. I still need to allow myself being happy right now as Manuel is in a good condition.
Relapse – no stress due to e.g. shedding
So I am convinced that shedding is stressful for the body and then the overactive immune system kicks in – and in Manuel’s case – attacks the Sebaceous Glands.
I refuse to give him baths
We went to visit our veterinarian today since it has been 2 months since we started the medication on heavy doses. He did not want to say so, but he could not hold back his enthusiasm of the current situation.
He asked if I had bathed Manuel since he did not see any hairs with the special SA-look – maybe I have washed them away?
Nononono last time Manuel was bathed was before a dog show in Germany, that is…October 2010. As a former hairdresser I HATE, I HATE all this over-shampooing. It just destroys the balance of the normal protection – the skin.
No we will reduce the amount of Atopica to 200 mg every second day and got free hands to doses during any possible period of needing that.
Again – how much does an Akita cost?
Last few months – 4000 SEK (medication, home made food, insurance) + 2300 SEK (Day-care). To us it is “nothing to discuss”, we have and will sacrifice a lot making sure Manuel has a great life.
We want to provide the best life possible
To Manuel that is being able to join us for new experiences and new environments, no matter the weather. He just hates routines and walking the same “walk” twice in a row.
